Aggression on the Border: The December 8 Offensive

The war began on December 8, 2025, when Thailand launched a sudden, heavy military offensive across the border. Thai forces utilized F-16 fighter jets and artillery to strike deep into Cambodian territory, specifically hitting villages in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey.

The Ministry of National Defense confirmed that these unprovoked attacks resulted in the killing of Khmer civilians, including innocent families caught in the crossfire. By initiating this air and ground assault, Thailand shattered the regional ceasefire, forcing hundreds of thousands of Cambodians to flee their homes and sparking a tragic humanitarian crisis.
